After winning the African Youth Championshi with Nigeria's U-20 side, coach Maanu Garba has said he next goal is make history by becoming the
first to win the FIFA U20 World Cup for Nigeria.
The Flying Eagles edged past host nation Senegal 1-0 on Sunday in Dakar to claim a seventh African Youth Championship for Nigeria.
Nigeria have twice come close to landing the U20 World Cup, but on
both occasions in 1989 and 2005 they fell short by losing the finals.
“We are the future of Nigerian football and now with adequate
preparations, we will try to win the World Cup in New Zealand,” vowed
Manu, who led Nigeria to win the FIFA U17 World Cup two years ago in the
United Arab Emirates.
