Nigeria Super Eagles will play the Cranes of Uganda in an international
friendly match in Uyo on Wednesday, March 25, the Nigeia Football Federation has said on it's website.
NFFsaid
that a letter of acceptance has been received from the Federation of
Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) that its delegation will fly to Uyo
on Monday for the showdown
Uganda replaces Bolivia, which withdrew last minute despite signing a contract with the NFF and sending a list of its
delegation for visa-on-arrival.
“We certainly will have time to deal with the Bolivia matter in a few
days, but our concentration has been on getting a replacement for them
so that the FIFA window we had booked would not be lost.
“Their excuses do not hold any water. But we have spoken to our
lawyers and will approach FIFA on the matter. However, we are happy to
have been able to secure a team with even higher ranking than Bolivia,” the statement said.
Uganda is ranked number 20 in the African continent and 74th in the world, while Bolivia is 92nd in the world.
After playing Uganda in Uyo on Wednesday, the Super Eagles will fly
to South Africa on Friday to take on the Bafana Bafana in another
friendly, in Nelspruit on Sunday, March 29.
