LIFE: They Wanted A Baby Girl So They Did This!

Lawrie family welcome first baby girl in 200 years

HANNAH Lawrie was desperate for a baby girl, but her own husband Mark warned that the chances of the couple seeing pink weren’t very high.

The last time a girl was born into the Lawrie family was in 1809 and Mark, who has one son with Hannah, and two boys from a previous marriage, figured it would just never happen.
But Mrs Lawrie, a midwife, had other ideas and set about to see if there was indeed a way she could get a girl to complete her family.
Speaking on Britain’s ITV This Morning show, the 26-year-old asked doctors if there was a genetic condition which meant the Lawrie family only produced male sperm.
However, the family from Maidestone, Kent, was told by doctors it was always a 50/50 chance.
She then decided to try the Shettles Method where having a sex at a certain time in a woman’s cycle can increase the chances of having either a boy or a girl.
The theory goes that male sperm swim faster while females are slower but live longer, meaning if couples are trying for a girl they would have a greater chance of success if sex took place before ovulation.
The couple aren’t sure whether it is down to this method or not but last year welcomed baby Myla into the family.
The happy mother insists she would still be over the moon if she had given birth to another boy, but husband Mark is still shocked it wasn’t a blue one.
“I was astonished — I’ve got three boys, my brother has got a boy,” he told the show.
