Barak Young Controllers FC of Liberia has finally
arrived in Banjul International Airport on Thursday for their CAF
Champions league preliminaries round in Gambia.
They were airlifted by the Royal Air Morocco through Casablanca where
they have transited with a night stop before they could proceed to
Banjul.
They will play against their Gambian counterparts Real De Banjul, the 2014 league champion of the Gambia on Saturday.
The team should have arrived in Banjul on Wednesday but their trip
hit hurdles after Royal Air Morocco declined to fly the team citing
restrictions, but once information on the lifting of the restrictions
was transmitted to Monrovia, the coast was clear for the team to fly to
Banjul, according to the officials.
Barrack Young Controllers planned to play both their CAF Champions
league matches against Real de Banjul in Gambia and requested a venue
from the Gambia FootBall Federation to play all their matches in Gambia,
which drew a huge debate in Gambia.
Gambia closed its borders for people from the Ebola hit countries and
have also banned airlines for picking passengers from countries hit by
Ebola.
