The current Seleção captain already has 43 goals from his first 62 appearances for his country and, at the age of just 23.
There
is every chance he will surpass his predecessor’s 77-goal tally at the
summit of their nation’s all-time scoring charts. It should be
remembered, however, that Pelé can point to his role in three of
Brazil’s five World Cup victories, a trophy the Barcelona star is yet to
come close to, particularly in the wake of the debacle of 2014.
