Nigeria senior female national team, Super Falcons
showed their readiness to qualify for the Olympic games by when they came from
behind to beat Abuja All Stars 2-1 in a tune up game.
The Abuja veteran male side started the game on a fast note piling
pressure on the Falcons who responded well with their crisp passes to
keep the physically stronger All Stars at bay until the 25th minute when
Cletus nodded home a pullout from the left flank. It was 1-0 at
interval.
Second half began after both teams brought in a complete sets of
players with Super Falcons dictating the pace until the 60th when
Yetunde (who) received a floated ball in the left flank and drilled
through the All Stars' back line to slot home the equaliser.
Chisom Henry won the game for the Falcons in the 73rd minute when she
headed home from a goalmouth scramble after veteran striker Perpetual
Nkwocha's first effort was saved by the All Stars goalkeeper.
Speaking after the game, Falcons coach Edwin Okon commended his girls
for playing to instructions noting that the All Stars gave them a good
game but failed to match the pace of the African champions who played
without five key players who have gone to their clubs abroad.
